I have a great reason to celebrate - I won two categories in the Dessert Cook-off at the Oakland Heritage Day! I entered my "Mini Hi-hats" which are chocolate cake with a swirl of homemade marshmellow and then dipped in chocolate. The receipe won not only 1st place in the Judge's competition, but it also won the People's Choice Award. Thank you to everyone that voted and my family for all their help and support! We had a wonderful time and can't wait until next year!

Back to School
I recently completed a terrific course at the Notter School of Pastry Art with my favorite cake designer, Colette Peters. It was 4 days of hanging out, learning new techniques, and decorating cakes. I can't wait to start applying all that I've learned! One of the things I'm most excited about is learning to do sugarpaste flowers. Keep an eye out for the new blooms!
