I just finished a class at the Notter School of Pastry Arts with Ron Ben-Israel and it is safe to say it was the best class that I've ever taken! Ron is a very talented, affable and all-around great teacher. We learned new skills in roses, orchids, peonies and decorating techniques. I gained a whole new bag of tricks to add to cakes and can't wait to start using some.
Our final project for the class was to construct a cake using the skills we learned over the weekend. I chose to go the art deco route. I was really inspired by some pieces that Ron brought with him from his own bakery. I came home every night tired with hurting feet but exhilarated. I can't wait to start using more of the techniques I learned this weekend and I'm probably going to have to start practicing my new rose techniques in my spare time this week.
I met some great and talented people in class from all over the country including Juanita, Ashlyn, Diana, Annette, Linda, Christine, Geraldine, and Minette. Most if not all of them are coming back to Orlando in July for the ICES convention and we all look forward to meeting again and sharing how our new techniques are working out.
